सह-अस्तित्व का केवल एक विकल्प है सह-विनाश। – NEHRU

Jawaharlal Nehru was imprisoned nine times during the freedom struggle against the British Empire but today people call him a traitor but why?And few months back I had the same image of Nehru as most of the people in India have, most of the people think that Nehru was a Traitor but my research has just changed my point of view.
The whole controversy of Nehru being a lair starts from The 13th volume of the “Encyclopedia of Indian War of Independence” by M.K Singh. According to him Jawaharlal Nehru’s Family starts with the Mughal man named “Ghiyasuddin Ghazi“. Ghazi was the city Kotwal (Police officer) during the Mughal rule(1857). But when the Britisher came into the power and started killing everyone who belongs to the Mughal empire, Ghazi decided to adopt a Hindu name Gangadhar Nehru. According to the book of M.K. Singh Ghazi used to live near a the bank of a canal (or Nehr) near the Red Fort. Therefore he adopted the name ‘Nehru’ as the family name. I have personally tried alot to find out the proofs but I was unable to find any sort of proofs which grantees the words of M.K Singh therefore i feel the claims of M.k Sharma are base less.
Not only that many People have also tried to talk about his Personal life M.O Mathai in his book “Reminiscences of the Nehru Age” reveals the relationship of Nehru with the Beneras girl and states that he had relationship with several teens and Nehru was a Playboy. Again we don’t have any sort of proofs to put question on his character and it was his personal life we don’t have any right to intervene in his Personal Life.
But few things rather I should say “Few Major Things” which made me think that if was not a good Prime Minister.
15 AUGUST 1947, India got it’s freedom. But we were divided into two Pakistan and India. Nehru took one part of our nation and Jinnah took the remaining . Nehru-Jinnah were responsible for division of India. Nehru was responsible for Partition because he did not agree to the Cabinet Mission Plan of 16 May 1946. This plan would have kept India united externally, but internally separated into Muslim majority and Hindu majority blocs, each with its own laws and systems of government, except in national level matters of armed forces, currency, international relations, etc, which would be overseen by a union government, where Hindus and Muslims would have equal representation.
In October 1947, Pakistan decided to attack J&K inorder to capture it. Hari Singh the Maharaja of J&K realised that he needs the help of India, therefore he reaches out Prime Minster of India Jawaharlal Nehru and Patel who later on agrees to help him but with the condition of him to signing an instrument of accession (IoA) in favour of India (pdf), handing over control of defence, foreign affairs, and communication. Hari Singh signs the IoA, Indian troops move in. The armed conflict continues. In January 1948 Jawaharlal Nehru takes this issue to United Nations (UN). The UN suggests a plebiscite and that day we lost a major part of Kashmir.
He also failed to read the circumstance in 1962 because of which we lost to China. 16 August 1946, The Great calcutta Killings 1946 , Noakhali & Trippeli masscare or Direct Action Day during that time Nehru was spending his honeymoon with Edwina in Shimla.
Nehru also had declined a US offer back in 1953 Nehru rejected to take a permanent seat in UNSC. In a 2004 interview, former UN Under-Secretary General Shashi Tharoor said that Nehru had “declined a US offer” to India to take a permanent seat in the UNSC in 1953.

False Claim against him PM Modi in Bidar said that : When freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Batukeshwar Dut etc were jailed while fighting for our independence, did any Congress leader go to meet them? But the Congress leaders have the time to meet people who’re corrupt & have been jailed. But this was totally a false claim Nehru meet them six times and also wrote letter for them.
Nehru’s Contribution– The scenario of India after Independence was totally miserable India was among the poorest countries in the world over 80% of the people struggling for two meals a day. The average life span of an Indian was 31 years and we did not had any work opportunities But Nehru made India Strong he changed India he ruled over 17 yrs and Totally changed India and transformed it to Compatible India. He had built many many strong institutions across the country. Which inculdes IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS for top level higher education, and thousand of primary, secondary and higher secondary schools.
Nehru’s idea of New India which consisted of Democracy, Secularism, Socialism, and Non-alignment. Much like Gandhi, Nehru believed development should not be dictated from above, but rise up from below. He also introduced three-tier system of Panchayati Raj. For Nehru, democracy was not just about the right to vote, but also having the economic means to leverage your democratic rights.
His ideology of Secular India which kept us United. Back in 1947 when many believed that Muslims would never be safe as a minority in a Hindu-dominated India and Few had an ideology of Hindutva. Nehru went on make India a Secular Nation over Hindu Nation which has ultimately helped India to grow.
Nehru was the Maker of New India. Yes I agree with the fact that he has failed in various situations but calling him a traitor is just unfair. His contribution is toward Building India is just commendable. His ideology of socialism and planning has made us strong.
थोड़ा अच्छा, थोड़ा बुरा लेकिन बुरा आदमी नहीं।
